MORE KOOKAS make a NSW team CONGRATS to Callum deBryun & Marcus Teixeira on making the Under 14s NSW Country indoor squad to compete in Brisbane at national titles in June. Kookas bow out in semis. Despite 1st grade putting on a massive 8/350 dec with Blake Hutchison pitching in with 84 & Allen Sullivan with 73, it was not enough to leap frog Park into the final. Park secured the runs with just a few overs to spare despite another massive bowling display by Adam Zampa with 5/72. 2nd grade also could not secure a final place after going down to Lake. Despite a fantastic knock by Ashley Kennedy 46 & Paul Hartley 32*& Corey Piccirillo's 4/42 there were not enough runs in the first innings but the boys never gave up & fought back in the second innings with the likes of Scott Peachman's 62 & Corey's 42 to give themselves a crack at taking the match. 16As also had a defeat in their grandfinal against Shellharbour. Their total of 105, with Nic Maddinson's 76, was not enough to get a final victory for the majority of the boys in their final year of juniors & for Zorba who has been a junior coach for as long as anyone can remember.(that includes himself). With about half the players already playing grade we hope to see the rest of the players come back as seniors to continue their cricket. Well done guys for what you have acheived! 2nds take out Minor Premiership CONGRATS to 2nd Grade who took out the minor premiership by 14 points & to 1sts who finished strongly to move into 3rd place. Keep the momentum going guys right through to the grandfinal!!!
Kookas are Bradman Foundation U16 Cup Runners Up CONGRATS to Chris Jarman & Adam Zampa who, along with the rest of their Southern Zone team mates, were the Bradman Foundation Cup U16 Runners Up for 2008. The boys fell .1, which equates to 10 runs over the 3 days, short of taking the title. 3 KOOKAS GOING BOLLY. Blake Hutchison, Nic Maddinson & Adam Zampa have gained selection in a NSW Youth team that will travel to India in the April school holidays. The team, aged between 16-19, will be staying in Bangalor. WHAT AN HONOUR!!!! Gav breaks 2nd grade record. It took 28 years for the 2nd grade top score to be broken & now it has taken the next game for Gavin McCauley to break that one. He put on a smashing 151. Well Done!!
